Visitor Statistics

Tourism Tasmania's quarterly Tourism Snapshot contains a summary of the latest Tasmanian Visitor Survey (TVS) results, along with additional data from Tourism Research Australia.

The Tasmanian Visitor Survey is a quarterly exit survey of visitors leaving the state.

For the year ending March 2024
Expenditure by visitors:   $3.500 billion (down 11.5%)
Visitors to Tasmania: 1,277,500 (down 2.1%)
Nights spent in Tasmania: 12.39 million nights (up 0.4%)

Figures in brackets are the percentage changes from the previous corresponding year. Note that these statistics refer to visitors to Tasmania on scheduled air and sea services only. They do not include visitors to Tasmania on cruise or navy ships.
