Indicative results show record visitor spend

Tasmanian Visitor Survey, year ending October 2022
The latest indicative results from the Tasmanian Visitor Survey show that total spend for the 12 months to October 2022 has reached $3.122 billion, up 23% from the year ending December 2019 total (was $2.54 billion).
This is the first time that visitor spending has exceeded $3 billion in Tasmania and is the highest annual spend on record.
The average spend per visitor was $2,952, up 56% from the year ending October 2019.
The average spend per night was $300, up 27% from the year ending October 2019.
For the year ending October 2022, there were 1.058 million visitors to Tasmania, representing 78% of the level of visitors pre covid (for the year ending December 2019). These visitors stayed 10.4 million nights in the state. The average stay was 9.8 nights, almost 2 nights longer than in 2019.
