Love Autumn in the South encouraging Tasmanians to visit bushfire affected regions

Will Hodgman, Premier & Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events.

The Tasmanian Government is focused on assisting communities affected by the recent bushfires recover and the Love Autumn in the South campaign is designed to get Tasmanians out enjoying our regions.

Love Autumn in the South campaign, commencing tomorrow, is targeted at Tasmanians to encourage us all to get out there and embrace Tasmania’s autumn and our unrivalled natural environment.

Bushfire affected regions will also be featured in Tourism Tasmania’s upcoming winter campaign, our biggest marketing undertaking for the year, to be seen by interstate and international audiences.

In addition to the new marketing campaign, the Government investing $150,000 to hold a special 10 Days on the Island event in the Huon Valley during the festival in March.

The event will bring a wide program of artists, music and performances that will transform community spaces across the Huon region.

The Government is also bringing forward its new drive journey commitment and will begin priority planning and development for a route and theme in the South.

The recovery effort for affected communities is well and truly underway and today’s announcement is another important step on the road to recovery. We’re continuing to work closely with all of the affected regions and all levels of government to ensure our communities are supported in their recovery.

Our message is clear to potential visitors from here, around the country and overseas – the best thing you can do to help communities recover from the bushfires is to book a trip and explore this magnificent part of the world.
