Festival of Voices fires up

Festival of Voices is another great event growing in appeal, attracting more people to Tasmania and invigorating our winter.

This year the Festival features the return of old favourites like the Big Sing and Bonfire, and Voicebox at the City Hall, along with new acts like 80's folk-pop band Frente, and vocal notables Toni Childs and Sarah Blasko.

Last year this world-class celebration of singing, story-telling, education and entertainment attracted 30,000 attendances across the entire festival – half were from interstate or overseas.

This event has great potential for growth and organisers are focusing on the participatory choral elements that drive strong interstate visitation.

We are increasing our support for the Festival to $1.5 million over three years, 2017-2019, to help it realise its growth strategy.

We are proud to support events like Festival of Voices, now in its 13th year – they are a key part of our plan to grow tourism and the visitor economy.

Congratulations to festival organisers on what is an exciting program of events and workshops.

The Festival of Voices runs from 30 June to 16 July. Further information is available from www.festivalofvoices.com
